Dog Skin Problems

A healthy dog is a happy dog, and a happy, healthy dog makes a pet owner happy. Pet Owners know how important it is to watch for dog skin problems. With the onset of spring and summer pet owners take their dogs to the vet to have their seasonal exams, to have a blood test to make sure they do not have lyme disease, heart worm or other infections, and their yearly booster shots. This is the time to buy the requisite preventatives for the ensuing tick and flea season. In some areas of the country dogs are treated all year for fleas and ticks.

People don’t want fleas in their homes, the infestation is not only bothersome, but costly, you spend a ton of money trying to eradicate the fleas, treat your furniture and rugs, and then still have to hire an exterminator. This is not the only problem fleas cause. Some dogs are allergic to fleas! One flea bite can cause a dog to scratch and chew it’s skin raw, trying in vain to relieve themselves of the itch. Along with chewing and scratching your dog will lick it’s skin until hot spots appear. Usually you find your pet working on one specific place, such as the legs or feet. Hot spots bring on bald patches that can bleed and ooze puss. These hot spots can become infected, and your dog will be sick, and become bad enough you will have a real problem on your hands. An infection can actually cause your dog to die if left untreated.

Dogs and possible reasons they may have skin problems.

It may not be fleas that are causing the irritation, it could be products you put on your dog to repel fleas and ticks, or it could be the flea collar, or shampoos you treat your dog with.

Dogs can be allergic to other seasonal allergens, such as ragweed, trees, mites, dust and sometimes even grass. Or, it could be the food you are feeding your dog. Dogs are allergic to some foods, just as humans are, and rooting out exactly what the food item is, can be daunting. They can be allergic to grains, or dye to make food colorful, or they allergic to eggs, or corn or beef and chicken.

There are many other situations that can cause skin irritations on your dog, such as mites, diseases such as Cushing Disease, which is a problem with the pituitary and adrenal glands. Your dog can get the mange, or, even be stressed out by a family situation, or being left for long periods of time.
So, as you can see from the above, skin problems can be a real problem for your dog.

You should take your dog to your veterinarian as soon as your dog starts incessant licking, scratching or chewing. Another indication of a dog skin problem is if the dog seems to have a bad odor, indicating a skin problem is underway. Once a dog skin problem crops up, other problems may arise, such as yeast infections. Watch for scaly patches on any part of the body, hair loss, rashes and any blood or oozing. Another symptom of a skin problem is your dog constantly rubbing its face on the furniture.

Your veterinarian may be able to diagnose your dog’s skin problem by just looking at the skin, and they will check for fleas or ticks, or looking in your dog’s ears for mites or ringworm. Some tests can be given to determine the cause.

Most likely your vet will prescribe medicine for your pet, such as a medicated shampoo to be applied once or twice. An antibiotic may be given, either by injection, or pills for the infection. Recommendation of high grade food, and supplements that will help to improve the dogs skin.

The best preventative for a dog skin problem, is to make sure fleas and ticks do not get on your dog. If your dog seems to have seasonal allergies when the ragweed is out, try to get rid of the ragweed, or do not take your dog near weeds in season, or your vet may prescribe an antihistamine to control itching.

Remember to always watch your dog for any signs of skin problems, and you and your dog will be happy.

RenuPlex Severe Skin Healing Cream

The RenuPlex cream is made with natural ingredients, including aloe vera, organic black willow bark, and jojoba oil, along with essential B vitamins to help your dog find relief from his rash. The various ingredients are famous for their anti-inflammatory properties, so they both soothe and solve the problem at the same time.

HydraPlex Dog Shampoo

Over the long-term, you can prevent rashes from recurring by using our HydraPlex line of shampoos and conditioners. They are a great dog rash treatment! These shampoos make your dog clean as a whistle and remove dog odor while moisturizing your dog’s skin. If other dog shampoos haven’t worked for you before, HydraPlex surely will.

Today more than ever it is important to use a gentle yet effective dog shampoo on our pets. The reasons are simple – we have more and more chemicals in our environment that are landing on, and often, staying our our pets on their skin and fur. Adding to this the strong use of pesticides has caused fleas and mosquitoes to seek out new home; and a dog becomes a great choice. So using a good all natural dog shampoo will go a far way at providing your dogs the needed cleansing ability to clean out the environmental chemicals in their coat and skin, while at the same time moisturizing them and protecting. A great ingredient to look for in organic and natural dog shampoo products is aloe vera juice; it does great at moisturizing after the dog bath!

The natural juice moisturizes great and will also help create a nice shine to the fur of your dog. Some other good ingredients to look for in natural dog shampoos are essential oils as these oils do a great job removing mosquitoes and fleas naturally. They also help heal any damaged skin and will help to stop itching and scratching.

Other Important Ingredients in Natural Shampoo for Dogs and Pets

Some other very effective ingredients in the better organic shampoos for pets are Panthenol (a form of vitamin b), oatmeal, various root extracts, zinc to re balance the dog skin cells should they be producing too much oils. Another good thing to look for in dog shampoos is the absence of DEA. This is a strong surfactant that is not good for dogs when giving them a bath.

Thank for reading this article and we hope its sheds some light on selecting a dog shampoo that is all natural and organic!

Why Should You Use Zinc-pca in Dog Creams and Shampoos?

One reason why you should have zinc-pca in dog shampoos and lotions is because dog skin is the first defense against oil build ups and bacteria which cause acne and pimples. Therefore, when the skin is not able to perform this function of regulation well enough, it only makes sense to start from there instead of only feeding your dog with zinc–pca rich diets. What the best creams and shampoos are going to do is to regulate the oil that is produced in the skin of dogs and keep it at the required level. This is important because when too much oil is left to build up on the skin of canines, it results to hot spots and bacteria growth in dogs.

When you are buying such dog kits for dog acne, just make sure that what you are getting is natural and good because anything lesser or synthetic might cause more harm than good. It would be wise to look out for natural ingredients and these are like aloe Vera which has proved over time to be good for human as well as dog skin. Aloe Vera is anti bacterial and anti fungal and is especially good in dog shampoo products.

Look out for vitamin B3. This is very good for improving the dog skin barrier functions as well as treating acne.

Jojoba oil is right on the spot ingredients for dog acne cure. It is oil that closely resembles the dog skin lubricating medium and therefore it has a close affinity with dog skin.

However, the most important ingredient that you should look out for is the Zinc-Pca because this is the one that has proved the most effective in the cure for dog acne. It has the ability to stop dog skin rashes, repair damaged skin cells, stop itching of the skin, and heals sores.

Perhaps one other very important ingredients that you should look out for in the dog kit that comes with Zinc-pca is organic emu oil which is a natural substance that relieves pain on the skin sore spots and also helps them heal considerably.

More Information on Medicated Dog Shampoo with Zinc-pca

Definitely, when you start hunting around for dog shampoos and cream, you are going to find so many in the market, with every one of them claiming to be the best in its range. Therefore, it will be your mandate to seek out the best and buy for your dogs skin care. However, there are many natural products, creams and shampoos for dogs that you are going to find in the market.

The bottom line is that a dog’s skin problems become chronic if not treated in time with a good medicated dog shampoo. What this means is that the dog might develop some bald spots for life and also many uncomfortable sores on the skin that will be open to bacteria and germs from the environment. This could be dangerous for your dog, just as it would be for humans. The solution is dog acne treatment that is made up of Zinc-pca. Any product that has got this mineral in it will bring the sheen back to the dogs coat and it will restore the general health skin of the dog. Just remember that dog skin’s nourishment comes from Zinc-pca and that anything lesser than this will do your dog’s skin more harm than good. Look for a good dog’s shampoo that contains zinc-pca and you will see good results.
